Surviving and Thriving In Changing Times
We all face change, whether it is self imposed or imposed upon us. Unless you have been hiding, the change we have recently been caught up in, disrupted life as we knew it. Change is inherently about the impact on people and how we respond and we are witnessing response to this DISRUPTION worldwide, nationwide, locally and in our close knit surroundings;it has touched every single person in some small or huge way.
How do you show up?
When you are stressed in large ways it affects the way you think, the way you perceive and your emotions. Therefore, the question I want to ask you, is how do you want to show up during this astounding time of change and disruption? Do you want to drown, tread water or surf that wave?
Don’t get stuck seeing only the negative in the situation. It is important to reframe these challenges into opportunities. What do you want tomorrow to look like? How will it be different (because it will)? What can you learn through this to adapt?
Next Steps
Take a look at reality, the facts and truth, and don’t allow fear and stories tell you something different. What is your real self and your ideal self and where are the gaps? Build on your strengths, experiment with new ways of thinking. Practice something new and reflect on the result.
Part of change is understanding and coming to grips with what we will lose because of the change. First, take time to grieve that loss. Then, most importantly, attempt to look forward to the future, to feel hopeful and optimistic. Try some mindfulness. Incorporate laughter, joy and playfulness into your day. Spend time in nature. Volunteer and do something for someone else. These steps can help with a more positive outlook.
